LaShannon is a native Miamian, a social influencer and a scholar at best. She is a 2001 honor graduate from Hialeah High School and a graduate from the esteemed HBCU, Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL. At FAMU, LaShannon obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in December 2005 and later a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Marketing and Management graduating Magna Cum Laude in August 2007. Not only did LaShannon receive a domestic education, she also traveled abroad completing an internship in Shanghai, China and a study abroad in the Dominican Republic. LaShannon received her Certificate in Accounting from Devry University Keller School of Management in October 2011.
LaShannon is diverse with creative energy. Her intellect, diligence and a keen eye for details is essential to her professional success. In May 2011, while working as an accountant God gave LaShannon the vision to start her own fashion business. At this juncture, Styling Purpose was created, a multi-facet creative firm that specializes in fashion, marketing and consulting. As Creative Director, LaShannon has hosted and directed several fashion shows, worked as a wardrobe stylist for music artists, personalities, actors and professionals, The Secrets of Magic City movie starring Jennifer Lewis, the First annual Christian Fashion Week in Tampa, Fl, and the 21st Annual National Black Chamber of Commerce Convention 1st House Couture Fashion Show, as well as a lead style coordinator for Fashion Designers Expo Florida. She has appeared as Hot 105 radio personality Jill Tracey’s Love, Life and the 411 Glam Paparazzi for Jazz in the Gardens 2013, acting as a style and entertainment correspondent. In addition to corresponding, LaShannon is a blogger for Notyouraveragemodel.blogspot.com a blog discussing faith, fashion, family and love. As a result, she was noticed and contacted by BET to be a participant of a pilot show for Being Mary Jane bloggers and enthusiasts.
As time progressed, LaShannon would expand her entrepreneurial prowess and start PrPl, LLC (Jan 2016) a public relations and marketing consulting firm that builds the social and professional brands of public figures, entertainment entities, organizations and commercial brands. Out of 200 business applications, PrPl was selected as a one of twenty-eight 2018 Scale-up Miami Cohort 2 business scholars. The program is presented by the Miami-Dade College Idea Center and sponsored by TD Bank Charitable Fund.
In addition, to her entrepreneurial endeavors, LaShannon joined the Circle of One Marketing team in January 2014 and worked as the Social Media Swagster until March 2018. In this capacity, she was responsible for contributing, monitoring, filtering, measuring and guiding the social media presence of Circle of One Marketing and their clients through social media platforms. She has been the Social Media Director for the Jazz in the Gardens account for four years and reached a professional goal when the festival was the #18 trending topic on twitter for 2017, #4 in 2018 and the City of Miami Gardens #5 in 2018.
In the first quarter of 2018, LaShannon would fulfill her dream of creating a retail brand, entitled, the Petit Amour Brand. A lifestyle unisex brand, built on love with love.
In addition to LaShannon’s academic and professional successes, she is a life-time member of the NAACP (recipient of the Gloster B. Current Youth Award), a member of the Miami Alumnae Chapter (MAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (recipient of the 12th grade Debutante top tier Scholarship Award), Co-Chair of the MAC Marketing Committee, New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International (recipient of the high-school scholarship) and since January 2016 she is an on-air radio personality for the Bishop V. T. Curry Morning Show “Good Success” Segment on AM 1490 WMBM, where she has co-hosted and interviewed artist Kirk Franklin, MSNBC correspondent Joy Reid, actor and producer Tommy Ford, Grammy Award winner, writer, producer, Anthony Hamilton, Kierra Sheard, pastor Cindy Trim, the newly elected Chief of Police for Ferguson, Missouri – Delrish Moss to name a few. LaShannon was a finalist for the 2017 Black Owned Media Alliance (BOMA) Best Digital Communicator of the Year and in 2018 was awarded Best Social Media Communicator of the Year by BOMA and she is the recipient of the 2018 Legacy Magazine Miami 40 Under 40.
As a small child LaShannon has always been taught to whom much is given much is required, Styling Purpose and PrPl is committed to giving back to non-profits in which LaShannon have a close association with and/or strong belief in. As a result, LaShannon is a mentor for Women of Tomorrow Mentorship & Scholarship Program, a volunteer for the Overtown Music and Arts Festival and a volunteer wardrobe stylist for Dress for Success. She has had the opportunity to speak to Tracey Mourning’s girl group Honey Shine, the clients of the United Way Center for Financial Stability and has also made a guest appearance on Island TV. Styling Purpose was featured in The Miami Times Business & Finance section in an article entitled, “Petit takes “fashionista” to a whole new level,” in 2012 and LaShannon was voted the 2014/15 Spozen in Vizions Fashion Winner, an online fashion competition, where she was featured as a model for the month of May.
LaShannon’s purpose in life is to enhance the personal and online presence of individuals through fashion, style and image branding by making it purposeful.
